Moving and Grooving

The last few days have just been a whirlwind. The move is upon us - tomorrow the furturd and I hit the road!

Are you ready for us, Texas?

We will be breaking up our road trip into a two-day adventure. I booked us a room in Shreveport (using Priceline's Name Your Own Price, I was able to get a great rate!) So that puts us on the road for about 9 hours tomorrow and 5 hours on Friday.

I've managed to cram Jane Honda to the brim, everything else we've shipped - 6 large, heavy boxes using Greyhound Package Express, not too shabby. The husband will be packing up the rest of our household goods when he moves at the end of this month.

Let me just tell you, that no matter how smoothly or how well-planned a move goes, it's still insanely stressful.

I've managed to find myself eating some total junk, things I'd normally save for the weekend or walk away from completely. Things like ice cream, chocolates, cinnamon rolls, cereal, oh, don't forget the beer! I don't know if it's because my husband is right there eating it with me and we're enjoying the experience together, or if I've really just gone of the deep end and am eating everything in site to calm my nerves?

It's not so bad to eat a jar of peanut butter by yourself in 3 days, right?

It's hasn't been all junk, just 80% junk. I feel like I'm living in Willy Wonka land and bathing in a pool of whipped cream cheese frosting and Haagen Daz chocolate peanut butter ice cream (my favorite!)

Here's a few photos from the last few days. I have to jump in the shower and tie up some of these loose ends before tomorrow! If I don't blog tomorrow night from my hotel room, I'll see you again - in Texas!

My last Spin class in ATL!

Watched some of the Regionals coverage on the CrossFit Games website over the weekend.

Went to Lululemon to pick up some of the items I'd had hemmed, and came home with all of these other bags?

And this amazing product from Mac - Blot powder. I have oily skin, so along with my oil-defeating Primer from Bare Minerals that I put on before my makeup, I use this powder for touch ups throughout the day, and it is a miracle worker. It cuts all the shine!

We've been spending a lot of quality time together this last week, you know, making Dos Equis induced duck faces and stuffing out traps with absurdly fattening ATL foods.

Lame bathroom selfie from the movie theatre: Star Trek was AMAZING! (Totally worth seeing twice, and see it in 3-D.)

We even got some maxing relaxing time by the pool.

Happy Hump Day!

1. Do you ever deal with emotional/stress eating?

  2. Oh heck yeah I do!!! I have to lock myself in my room so I don't eat the whole kitchen! I try to put on the bare minimum, my face breaks out if I wear certain lotion. I use a BB Cream, and surprisingly my face doesn't breakout with it. Mint Chocolate Chip will always have my heart <3

I stress eat all the time (and bored eat). It doesn't even have to be unhealthy food...sometimes I stress eat carrots 'n' hummus or apples and almond butter....but yes I'm not always hungry when I eat...workin on it!

I have to say, your "girls" have been looking great lately...I'm a little jealous :)

  4. 1) I think I fall prey to eating from boredom on days I don't have enough to do more than emotional/stress eating.
    2) I don't usually wear makeup but I do love me some mascara (Maybelline Colossal Volume)!
    3) Cookies & cream, coffee, cookie dough... I can't choose I love ice cream too much ;)

  6. YES, all of this. Loved Star Trek, but I am a much bigger nerd than I usually let people know. I was in the military for a long time, so I moved A LOT. I can definitely empathize with the moving-induced stress. All that said, I just took three weeks off CrossFit, heading to Napa and eating my feelings. Fun fact: no matter what I eat, in what quantity, my weight has stayed EXACTLY the same. I made this into a scientific experiment with hypotheses, lab results, all this. Paleo for 4 months, followed by lots of wine, ice cream, cheesecake, pizza and some more pizza, also all of the cherries, strawberries, and dark chocolate that I can find. When I recognize trigger foods, I try not to have these in the house, but when I go off the rails, WATCH OUT!

In summary, you look great, I want to try that Kevita business, eating your feelings can be just fine sometimes, and drive safely!

  11. I am a stress-eater. I actually re-gained about half of the 50 lbs I'd lost over the previous 8 months in a much shorter time span of just a semester. It was a time when I was experiencing a huge personal crisis, but I was able to get my emotions back in check and then eventually got my eating habits back under control as well. I will say though, emotional eating is a vicious cycle, at least for me! That first bite leads me to crave more and more and more...

I wear Bare Minerals, but normally don't wear anything more than eyeliner and mascara (and maybe concealer) on a daily basis.

Favorite ice cream? How about ALL the ice creams? ;) Right now, mint chocolate chip is sounding delicious, but so does a good vanilla bean. Just finished my Whole 30 yesterday and reintroducing dairy today, so there will definitely be an ice-cream break at some point!

Drive safe! I hope the drive to Texas is uneventful and easy!

  14. Good luck with your move!

You have been a huge inspiration to me, a 40 year old woman bouncing back from a life changing injury and dealing with the body image issues that go along with that. I am hoping that once you settle in, you feel comfortable enough to acknowledge the very noticeable change in your physique.

  15. I think i majored in emotional eating :-) I find that sometimes when life is stressful and hectic, you just need to enjoy that bowl of ice cream and plate of nachos..as long as you get back on track it's all good!

    I love Bare Minerals makeup!

Favorite ice cream is banana cream pie or coffee

  16. I am DEF an emotional eater... I ALWAYS have been ever since I was little. Is it a learned trait? Is it inherited? I always wonder why I am an emotional eater and my twin sister is NOT!

I wear a heavy coverage foundation from este lauder because it is the only foundation I have found that gives me the type of coverage I Like!

My favorite ice cream is cookies in creme... somthing about mixing oreos and vanilla ice creme together.. SO GOOD

  17. I am definitely an emotional eater! When I'm stressed out, give me all the cookies and Coke I can find. I *heart* Whataburger when I'm needed comfort food.
Speaking of makeup- I loved MAC when I used to wear it...don't remember why I'm not anymore. I should go back to it b/c it was AMAZING. I'm pretty basic and just use Maybelline's Mineral Powder. Right now b/c it's so dang hot in Texas- I've gone to tinted moisturizer!
Btw...i agree with someone's comment earlier...so jealous of how awesome your "girls" are looking....I would do Crossfit every damn day if that happened to my lil' boobies lol. I've been MIA from reading my blogs thanks to being super busy at work...are you using some amazing product or bra! I need to know the secret lol

  19. You are gorgeous so thanks for sharing some makeup secrets! I definitely want to try out that MAC blot product because I too have really oily skin and i've tried a ton of products! I binge it when I'm stressed or get upset. It's bad. I've been trying to focus on having clean snacks and recognizing when I'm stress eating!
