It's Only A Kiwi

I'm still here, I promise!

I wanted to make sure everything was 100% before announcing it the blog world, but I'm officially an upperclassmen at Texas A&M! I'm going back to school to finish my BS in Social Work.

And yesterday was my last day at work. It was so hard to say goodbye to these furry munchkins! With so much going, preparing for school and moving, it was the best decision, I feel so blessed to have worked for such a fun company, taking care of amazing animals. I'm still coaching at CF ATC, but just taking the next few weeks off.

I'm going to miss my morning runs with that goof ball!

If you follow me on IG, you may already know, but I'm also taking some time off from the gym (healing from minor surgery  I had on Friday). It's not something I want to discuss on the blog, but if you have questions about it, please feel fee to shoot me an email!

Let's get caught up, shall we? Photos from the last few days ...

The Husband is on leave for the next few weeks, so we've been getting out WOD on together. This to me is the best bonding experience ever. Nothing like barbells, chalk and hand rips to bring a couple closer together.

My Husband tells me this is a skateboard. I call it a "How to: Break Your Ankle 101" tutorial.

Lucky me won this awesome KIND giveaway! I love the Almond Walnut Macadamia version, because they're high in protein, and relatively lower in sugar.

I discovered Kill Cliff is sold at GNC when I stopped in Thursday to grab a box of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest bars (Yes, I have an ENTIRE box of them in my pantry now!)

I saw this old guy checking out at the register, and he had 8 boxes of Kill Cliff! The only time I've seen Kill Cliff is around CrossFitters and during competitions. This guy was neither, so I had to ask him,
"Sir, why do you drink this stuff?"

He said, "It's the best anti-inflammatory. I had double knee replacement surgery, and I think this drink works better than the meds they give me."

Since I prepping to go under surgery myself, of course, I scooped up a few boxes of them! Couldn't hurt, right?

I've been making a lot of my own flour recently. I love the Rolled Oats from Trader Joe's! They're wheat and gluten free, and when pulsed in the Magic Bullet for just a minute or so, turn into a great flour for baking. This is what I used to make Jamie Eason's protein bars.

Because I was out of eggs (the recipe calls for 4 egg whites), I opted instead to make flax eggs. I'd never done this before, but kind of love them now!

I'm blogging from bed, look who joined me? I think he gets a little jealous when there's a computer in between him and I ...

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some breakfast in bed to demolish.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

1. What would your last meal on Earth be?
My aunt Patty's homemade pies or cobblers.

2. Do you sleep with your dog (or dogs)?
Yep! Guilty as charged.

3. Do you peel the skin off your Kiwi?

Ain't no body got time for that!

  1. Yay you're back! I hope your surgery went well and you're recovering fast.
Are you guys moving back to Texas, or is this online school? Congrats on that!

My last meal on Earth would be my Grandmama's pound cake. She's famous for it.

We have 2 GSD's so they are too big for the bed. They have their own beds in our room though.

I've never eaten the skin on kiwi. Is it good?

    1. Thank you! My girlfriend makes an amazing Texas Sheet Cake that MIGHT beat out my aunt's pies, now that I think about it ... ;)

Yes, it's much like apple skin, you don't even notice it's there!

  2. I hope you're recovering well from your surgery!!
Hmmm last meal pancakes with a side of cupcakes from Gigi's and a slice of potato pie and fries.
All this can be one meal lol.
    No pets !
I love eating the kiwi skin.
    People think I'm weird
But there's actually benefits to it!!
I actually eat the skin by itself and then devour the actual kiwi.
    I love kiwi's!
    Nom nom nom!

    1. I know that there's a lot of fiber in the skin of fruits, but what other benefits are there? Curious to know!

  3. Congratulations on going back to school! Hope your recovery is going well. My dog sneaks into the bed as often as he can. If it were up to him he'd sleep in the bed all day I think!

  4. So happy for you!!! I bet you can't wait to go back there :)
I think my last meal would have to be from Togo's (sandwish/wrap/salad place) They can make some monster food :)
I sleep with my cat :)
I peel my kiwi's. Does the skin have any benefits??

    1. Not that I know of, except it's a huge time saver and there's a little added fiber. :)

I am SO excited to get back to Texas!

  5. Congratulations on school! Does this mean that you and your husband are moving back to Texas? My last meal would definitely include ice cream of some sort, but I love food too much to pick and choose anything else! ;) I hope you have an easy recovery! I've never actually bought kiwis...I'm sort of intimidated by them, because I don't know how to choose a good one (or a good box of them, because that's how they're sold around here). Amy advice?

  6. Congrats on school! I need to go back so bad but I'm scared:/
I've never eaten the peel before but I have a bunch right now so I may try it!
Before our dog passed, he occassionally slept with us, that old man-dog.
I hope you're recovery is going well. I "think" I know what you had done from your IG pics. I'd love to have that done as well:)

  7. Oh your pups will miss you! :( But, I'm excited for your new journey. I must've missed your IG updates but glad you are healing. And, the couple that WOD's together... :) OH, and Cooper dominates our bed. Guilty.

  9. Good luck with the healing (I follow you on Instagram :)) and congrats on school!! I need to scoop up a box of these cookie dough Quest bars. EVERYONE has been talking about them lately! On a related note to GNC, do you/have you take a preworkout drink? I have been hitting up the 5:30am WODs and don't want to eat beforehand (since I get up at 5:00, not much time, haha) but want a little boost. Any suggestions?

My last meal on earth? Oh shoot. Probably a big burger with all the fixings, on a bun, with fried and the bad-for-you ketchup.

The dog definitely sleeps with me. I love it!

I cut my kiwi in half and use a spoon to scoop out the insides.
