60 min Spin
Max HR: 187 BPM, 99%
Avg HR: 161 BPM, 85%
After almost 3 weeks of doing nothing but slugging around on the couch and taking the dog out for long walks, I strapped on my heart rate monitor, pulled on my new Flow Y bra from Lululemon, and made it to my gym just in time for my favorite Spin class.
I don't know if I was just REALLY well-rested or what, but I had BOATLOADS of energy. Everything felt so good. I haven't worked that hard and had it feel SO EASY, um, maybe ever? Is this a sign that before my 3-week hiatus, I was incredibly over-worked and under-rested?
The last 3 weeks out of the gym have been so eye-opening! For one, I'm going to take my rest days WAY more seriously from here on out. Scouts honor.
I've gotten emails from readers asking how I avoided gaining weight if I'm not in the gym. It's simple: eat less. When I'm in the gym and lifting heavy, I'm eating anywhere from 1,800-2,500 calories a day. Exercise MAKES ME HUNGRAY. The last 3 weeks though; I've been closer to 1200-1500. I based that number on my BMR of about 1,345.
In truth, I'm actually down a few pounds. Funny how that works, isn't it?
And of course, you can always follow me on MyFitnessPal (PetiteAthleat) if you're interested in seeing exactly how I eat (creep on). I'm not perfect. I'm not Paleo. I eat ice cream, chocolate, and Fruit Loops. But, I like to think that most of the time (80%) I'm making smart, clean food choices. Like this delicious Chicken Meatloaf, that just happens to be Paleo, for all of you cave dwellers out there.
I'd never made meat loaf with ground chicken before, but damn, it's good!
The recipe yields either 7 large slices or 14 medium sized squares. I cut it into 14 squares, that way I can eat 1 for a snack or 2 for a total meal.
Per 1 square:
3 net carbs
Should I share the recipe?
I'm off to get my nerd on! Have a good night, ya'll!
