iPhone Photo Dump

It's Monday! Werd.

The weekend AND the gorgeous weather it rode in on are now long gone. :(

Yes, that's my ass in a bathing suit. I couldn't believe it, either, considering last week it was BELOW freezing. And now today it's all thunder and lightening and there's a Tornado Watch.

Global-warming, much?

So this weekend! Let's go through my phone and see what happened, shall we?

On St. Patrick's Day, I got my green waffle on.

.. and rocked some super duper green socks.

... and Skyped with my little sister during her Birthday party (she lives in Palm Springs).

Then, I went crazy at Whole Paycheck Foods.

Blood Orange Caramel?! Yes, please. But ah, $7.99 a bar? Who do I look like, Oprah?

Salad bar was hoppin' .... they had all of this awesome food out for St. Patty's Day. Sauteed cabbage, roasted squash and copius amounts of brisket and pulled pork made themselves at home in my belly.

And this gelato did, too. Gingersnaaaaap!

I found Arrowroot Flour (finally!), so hopefully some of the amazing recipes here will soon be making their way into my kitchen.

Fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter, anyone? I may like this more than Sunbutter. And damn, that's saying A LOT.

And I thought I had rough skin. Yikes.

And of course, we tackled 13.2 on Saturday morning. I just wanted 8 rounds, and I was happy that I was working on Round 9 when "time" was called. Apparently, there were all kinds of crazy things happening with the box jumps. If you stepped up, you could go a lot faster, etc. There's nothing like the CrossFit Open to help you realize how much you still suck at CrossFit.

But, let's just keep plugging away, shall we?

He was supposed to be making a 1 and a 3 ... I was making a 2 ... right, for 13.2. Genius, I know!

On Friday I had a Doctor's appointment ... to see about my back (again), and to get a vaccination for school and to do some routine blood work.

I'm in the process now of researching a good Doctor of Osteopathy in Atlanta ...

Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time for me to get my Fat Girl Girl Scout on.

1. How did you do in 13.2?
246 reps, I thought it was a decent score ... until you go look at the South East Regional leader board. Goodness, I just need to crawl back under a rock.

2. What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?
Do I have to pick just one? Samoas. A close second are Thin Mints - a little less sinful.

3. The last thing you purchased from Whole Foods?
Purple brussels sprouts! Have you ever seen them before?

  1. Love your blue wunder unders!

    1. 13.2 murdered me! I got 231 reps and if it weren't for Super Saturday and the shenanigans I got into, I would've redid it.

    2. Tagalongs are where it's at!

    3. Since the nearest Whole Foods is 2.5 hours away and I haven't been since I lived in Atlanta a year ago, the last thing I purchased was probably Applegate Farms items.

    1. They don't sell Applegate at the regular grocery store where you live?

  2. Cool St. Patty's socks!

    1. 13.2 horrible. I got 184 reps. It's over, moving on lol.

    2. Thin mints, but I could eat the heck out of some Do-si-dos. BTW, still looking forward to your bread pudding recipe :)

    3. Last thing I got at Whole Foods was Bubbies dill pickle relish. Love the stuff.

    1. So, the only hold up on the bread pudding recipe is I'm re-making it, but I'm making the bread from scratch this time, too. EXCITED! :)

  3. Thin Mints are my faaaaaaaave! I may or may not be hoarding several boxes in my freezer and strictly rationing them... It took 3 separate cookie booths to find those suckers this year!

I've never been to Whole Foods before. Hopefully going to check out Trader Joe's for the first time while I'm home next week, though.

With the mood swings your weather has been having, I'm surprised you don't live in the Midwest lol. Sounds like you've been experiencing my "normal" weather!

  4. So frustrated with my 13.2! I only had one shot at it, Sunday afternoon. I had surgery 5.5 weeks ago and this was my first WOD back. Weights felt good, light for me. What came slamming back to me and b!tch slapping me was the old saying, "EVERY SECOND COUNTS!" I got one rep short of 7 rounds. 1 freakin' rep! Probably not too bad considering I haven't lifted or done any major cardio in close to 6 weeks, but every time I stopped to catch my breath caught me. Tess in FL

    1. I was surprised how challenging it was to maintain a consistent pace, I was feeling those box jumps! I really wish I would have done it again, with step-ups.

  5. We do Open WODs on Fridays. Didn't know what to expect from myself & was pretty happy with 204. On Sunday (open gym day), lots of people were repeating and improving, so I went for it and got...204. Guess I didn't hold anything back on Friday! LOL! Ouchy hammies, man.

Something about that toasted coconut :)

Last Whole Foods purchase was delicious veggies and Yo Baby drinkable yogurt for my son, who loves his "baby yogurt" but is almost 5 (oops).

    1. Were people playing with the step-up route? I guess A LOT of people were getting crazy more reps using Step Ups?!

      Delete
    2. Yeah, lots of us were able to keep a steadier pace with the step ups and not get so gassed--even a lot of our firebreathers. This one was an interesting demo of how using strategy and knowing your strengths and weaknesses can affect scores.

  6. I don't know if weather swings in early Spring constitute a Global Warming designation- we seem to forget how bi-polar Spring is weather wise ;-)

    Also, I.want.your.thighs. My god.

  7. Did 13.2 on Friday. This one was made for me, and I was happy when it was announced. I got 366 reps, which I am psyched about, hopefully next week brings something good!!
I am not so sure people are going "faster" with the step ups, I think it just saved people some energy, but the majority of the people who got high scores at my box did regular box jumps.

Definitely will agree with the Samoas.

Last thing I purchased from WF was today, chocolate macaroons!

  8. Nice tan, and the food look yummy. I usually go the whole foods once a week to buy a few things like quinoa, oatmeal, nutritional yeast....

    1. Nutritional yeast! I need to get that on my shopping list. SO good on scrambled eggs, makes them cheesy-like!

  9. I did 13.2 Friday night and got 194, then repeated it Saturday for 31! I'm so happy I decided to try it again.
I went over to WF today to stock up on more Tessemae salad dressing. That stuff is amazing. Gluten, sugar, and dairy free, too! They've got SO many flavors, too. Bombsauce.

    1. Oooo, yum! I will check it out! What flavor do you recommend? Nice work on going at it again!

  12. To make everyone feel better I will tell you my 13.2 score -- 32! It was a terrible awful no good very bad day. It was basically the first time I've done 75 more than once or twice and I was even struggling cleaning it so it is a miracle I was able to get it up and locked out 7 times. Things to work on for next year!

  13. I cannot wait to start CrossFit! There's a box close to Ft LeonardWood where I'll be all this summer. So while the other officers are out drinking I will be working on my fitness. I'm afraid I'm going to LOVE it though and not be able to afford it back here too =/

I have vowed to not go into Whole Foods ever-but the pictures all over social media platforms of their salad bar have me close to caving...

  14. I am still sore from 13.2 and I scaled to 65 lbs! Has anyone else been sore for this long? It's stressing me out. Tagalongs are hands down the best Girl Scout cookies ever! At whole foods what didn't I buy is the question? I <3 the salad bar!

    1. Where are you sore? Is it an acute soreness?

      Delete
    2. Both arms in the tricep area- when I did some snatches with light weight the next day the part that hurt was dropping the barbell- I think a part of the problem is that I'm not great at cleaning without lifting with my arms yet. 65 lbs was heavy!! Still sore today - but nothing hurts when I'm resting.

  15. Jealous of your poolside time! It's still sooooooooooooo cold in Omaha--spring please come soon. And you killed 13.2--I can only imagine how it would've laid me on my back. GSC--hmmm, used to be thin mints, but isn't there a PB one?? I can kill those.

  19. I need to figure out what this 13.2 was.
I love this idea of a photo dump. I take so many pics on my phone.
I may "borrow" the idea for my blog. Hope you don't mind!!
I don't care for waffles both those green ones looked good!
I have a little from big brothers big sisters and she conned me into buying
girl scout cookies FOR THE FIRST TIME!
I finally tried them after letting them sit
in my cabinet for the past couple weeks.
I got the shortbread ones (DELICIOUS!) and some kind of peanut butter ones
    also quite good!
The last thing I got from wholefoods was ricotta cheese, KIND bars, natural gum, and Parmigiano Reggiano this past weekend!

  20. I train w/ my box's competition team and got 250 on 13.2 w/ a combo of step-ups and box jumps, however, i was beat by the girls who did all step-ups and ended up with 275ish each. Step ups were def the way to go. Anddddd now I have strep throat and it's looking like 13.3 is not happening. NO WALL BALLS FOR ME!

    1. Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! Still solid work on 13.2, but I sure wish I'd done step-ups. I could always do it again!

  21. Courtney, Could you post about your typical daily meals? Your muscles are amazing and I know that diet is one of the most important factors that contribute to them!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Totally unrelated to the questions you asked, but I thought I really should post this. :)
I'm 4'10'' and have been having a tough time getting rid of the last few pounds, particularly because I've been sitting on my tail and writing a Master's thesis for the last 2+ months. Now that it's done, I went a little nuts and the FIRST thing I did was make a mental list of the calories I need to eat, what I can't have, etc. TERRIBLE!
I have never wanted to live a life of restriction, and skimming through your posts this afternoon made me remember that.
I LOVE lifting, and I love being strong... and I also love eating clean. Thanks so much for being an awesome inspiration and reminding me to live a balanced, strong life. :)

  23. Just a follow up to the post on the Sciatica ..... I see you have a clutch.... that can definitely be problematic and cause worsening of the psoas tightness. All that L hip flexion over and over in the shortened position. I know, I have one a sports care with a clutch and I am a spine PT......... And not to mention the low-ness of a sports car body, like a Honda. I have manyt times recommended patients to get an automatic(I know, huge investment) for heavy town traffic driving, but it really is a problem and has been a lifesaver to them. Does hubs have an automatic? Drive that for a week and see if you notice any difference....... Good luck with the DO... it really sounds like it is your disc and you are having nerve root impingement. Make sure you get imaging before allowing aggressive manipulations....
