Splatter Pants

Happy Valentine's Day, sweet cheeks!

The husband and I are saving our celebrations for a romantic getaway we have planned next weekend, so you won't see any photos of roses, chocolates, or puppy love cards here (pretty sure we've all seen enough of that anyways ;)

Elliott enjoyed eating the antennae off of his Valentine this morning. <3

Today's workout:

A) 2k row time trial
Time: 8:20

B) 21-18-15-12-9-6-3
Push press, 75/55#
Box jumps 24/20"
Time: 8:47, Rx

C) 60 min Spin class (at a different gym)

This morning I checked out another local box, CrossFit Decatur. Different than a lot of affiliates, they offer two kinds of classes, a regular "Basic Training" WOD and a "Sport" WOD. The sport classes are shorter, the WOD's a little more intense, perhaps geared towards the athlete who wants to compete or learn more of the advanced skills. I dropped in to the 8am class, which happened to be a regular Basic Training class. Worked for me, that 2k time trial was brutal.

World's sweetest shoes ever! Great for everything CrossFit throws my way, except maybe squatting. Then I love my Do-Win's. "Karen" in my lifting shoes = fantastic.

In a pinch, I love these waffles from Van's Natural Foods with 10g of protein in a serving. And damn, was I in a pinch for time this morning to get to work. I was trying to beat the traffic getting out of Decatur, but NOPE, got stuck in it for over an hour instead. President Obama was visiting our little corner of Atlanta, and his motorcade had most of the roads blocked off.

Precious. Precious.

It's crazy to know he was that close to me, as I sat in my car and watched his motorcade pull into the parking lot ...

The irony? Is that I took this route because I thought it would be FREE from the traffic. Instead, I drove right to him! This is what happens when you don't subscribe to cable or watch television, also known as living under a rock.

After work, I stopped into Marshall's to look for some socks. Of course, I came out with 900 other things, but that's besides the point. No, I didn't find socks, but I did find THESE:

Remember a few weeks ago when I tried on a purple pair? Well, I said no to them because they fit weird (they were a medium). I was sad, because I almost bought them, I really wanted them. Thank goodness I waited! These are a small and fit like a dime! And how much do you love those crazy colors?

1. What did you do for Valentine's Day?
Not a thing! We have plans for next weekend, they will be GRAND!

2. Would you rather row or run?
I would SO much rather run, I feel like rowing is a billion times harder for smaller people.

3. Workout pants or workout shorts?
I like moving around better in short, but I like yoga in pants, a little more coverage in down dog ...

    1. Welcome! Your coach sounds like a smart cookie, rowing is the bees knees. It sucks so good.

  3. I love how sassy those pants are! You always find the best stuff!

I didn't really do anything for Valentine's day. I'm away at school right now, so my boyfriend and j are currently a long-distance couple. Last weekend he came to town and we went to a super nice steak place (and that was my present). Today when I came home between classes, though, I came home to a beautiful bouquet of flowers that he wanted to surprise me with! :)

I would much rather run! Lucky me though, I get to do both tomorrow... 1 mile run and 1 mile row, both for time.

And I like to go in the middle and vote for capris! My under armour capris are the best and most comfortable workout clothes I have, hands down!

Love all of the dog pictures you post here and on Instagram. Your Elliot is a cutie!

    1. ditto on the under armour capris!!! i'm heavier right now (read: 3rd trimester pregnant) so not having to worry about chaffing is nice:) otherwise i love my nike combat pro shorties.

and my crock pot burnt our V-Day dinner last night...i know...who burns food in a crock pot??? so we went to In-N-Out burger...i think my husby was more excited about that than what i had made though:)

    2. Aww thank you! I love my fur nuggets like children! :) And 100% agree on the chaffing. Shorts to Spin class? I don't know why I continue to do it, OUCH.

  5. The hubby and I took a couples cooking class offered by our local artisan center/community college. The dishes we prepared were definitely things we would not normally prepare and were tasty (read: so not healthy) and lots of chocolate. Mark this day down, but I actually think it was TOO much chocolate. But, a very nice way to spend time together! Best part-we didn't have to do the dishes!

    1. That sounds so cool! There no way my husband would ever be down for something like that ... =/ I think it's nice to splurge, I'm happy it wasn't healthy fare! Enjoy yourself!

  6. 1. We always celebrate on the 16th, so tomorrow is the big day! Thinking of wearing my red dress from Italy and ordering in pizza.

    2. ROW!!! I really don't like running...lol. I think it's so boring. At least with the ERG you have to focus on form for each pull which is more interesting for me. I'm short, so I'm always looking for ways to improve my efficiency!

    3. Workout capris!

    1. Rowing does go by so much faster, because there is so much to focus on! But, that's why sometimes, running is so Zen, because you really can zone out and just go ...

  7. I love your new pants!

I like running over rowing - I hate back exercises with a passion.

And I like workout pants because I am self conscious about my thighs.

    1. Aren't we all (self conscious about our thighs?) ... I think I've just stopped caring if people are all up in my stretch marks and jiggly bits. ;)

  8. I'm 5'7 and I still HATE rowing!! It's just so hard for me and makes my back hurt after a while! running on the other hand is so much better! Adorable pants pretty girl. Hope you have a great Friday! btw- did you register for the Open? If not, you need to!

    1. You hate rowing!? You should be a natural, girl! I haven't yet, still trying to find a box to join. Then I will. ;) You're ready to go?!

  9. Ha! So...when I read the title of this post I definitely was NOT thinking about a splatter design on pants. Just sayin'. I do love those pants though! Valentine's Day - hubs made dinner. I got a bouquet of flowers from his sons (so sweet!) and I got hugs and kisses. I need to invest more in capris; I have a ton of shorts! I would rather run. Rowing sucks, but I make myself do it so when we have a WOD that utilizes it, I don't completely sucks.

  10. For V day, I hit the gym for the CrossFit Open 12.4 WOD ("Karen" + 90 double unders + 30 muscle ups--didn't finish, but felt respectable), then made delicious pesto shrimp for the family.

In my mind there is no question: run. Rowing & I were not made for each other.

Love me some compression capris for the gym, but I run in a skirt.

LOVE those pants you just found!

    1. Lululemon makes some freaking adorable running skirts. I always consider buying one ... but then I see how dorky they look doing things like HSPU and burpees ... but they would be cute to run in!

  11. I love your workout pants! You always find the cutest stuff. :) I definitely need to check out the Marshalls in my neck of the woods! Hopefully, it'll have some great finds!!

  12. Didn't do much for Valentine's day. We are going to make dinner together tonight though!
I am such a pants person. I have huge legs and I'm just not comfortable in shorts at all.

  13. I spent the day with my girls. Conveniently, my hubby left for Sapper school. Gotta love how holiday's don't phase the Army, huh? haha:)
Sadly, I've never rowed before. Running is hard for me, although I'd love to be a "runner" some day. Can I pick spinning instead? :P
Pants. Can't beat a comfy pair of workout pants!

    1. Heck no, Holiday's no mean SQUAT in the Army! How long is he gone? I sure miss having my girls around. I think a V-Day would be more fun, anyways.

YES YOU CAN PICK SPINNING! I pick that, too. ;)

  14. Nice shoes and cute tight pants. Im wear shorts all the time and feel more comfortable! We stay home since i was tired from work. I would try rowing since running can harm the back.

  15. Hope you're celebrating a fab weekend with your hubby! We celebrated early since baseball season starts this weekend and mine is MIA. And, your arse makes those tights look amazing! I love the CrossFit board shorts but prefer to teach my classes in capris (more coverage)! :)

  16. You're killing it in those pants, girl! Love it. They just make me so happy. I wonder if I can find them at my local Marshalls!
I honestly don't know if I could ever choose pants or shorts. If I'm wearing pants, they need to be leggings, though.

    1. Yes, I agree - tight to the skin. I'm the same way about shorts, I don't like too much extra fabric bunching up and getting heavy when I'm all sweaty.
