Our Ritzy Weekend

The Husband and I spent an incredible weekend at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation at Lake Oconee.

Valet parking, bellman, room service, laundry service, turn-down service, my goodness! A girl could get used to that! The only laborious task I engaged in over the weekend was lifting a fork to my face and getting in and out of my white, fluffy robe.

It's a rough life, I tell ya.

And oh my Lord, the food ...

No bun, no problem!

All that remained of my S'more. In the evenings they held a little S'mores get-together in one of their courtyards. They offered the most delicious hot chocolate, had all the ingredients for us, blankets, chairs, and extra extra long mallow roasting rods ... they put the usual bent wire hangers to shame.

Room service, ohh la la ... they even cut the crusts off my PB&J. I die.

An intimate cooking class put on by the head pastry chef,
she taught us to make their famous bread pudding.

Mini bar exploits :)

The weekend was really all about relaxing.

The Husband who can't take a serious picture if he tried. Sigh.

After the spa ...

Lot's of silliness.

It was a great weekend, but damn, I missed my partner in crime.

And it was right back to the gym and work for me today!

1) Do you travel with your dogs (or animals)?
We have in the past (Elliott flew with us to Oregon last spring) but this weekend we left him with a friend.

2) Do you workout when you're on vacation?
I worked out Saturday morning. Because I just love working out that much. I know! If I have a day off or free time, I want to spend it doing something fun, and getting my sweat on is my idea of fun, what can I say?

3) Do you eat "whatever" on vacation or do you still eat clean?
I pretty much ate whatever the hell I wanted! I still kept track of my eats on MFP. Not really sure why, because I really wasn't worried about it. Alas, habit.

  1. I always think I'm going to work out and eat well but that plan usually fails. I genuinely enjoy eating good, healthy foods though so I don't go ape shit on vacation but I'm definitely not super well behaved! I wouldn't be able to control myself if I were you last wkd aha.

    1. I can't imagine traveling with a cat ... then again, I think I am more of a dog person. ;) I feel you on the sweets!

  4. Oh gosh. That first pic of you and Elliott - so cute! You are gorgeous! That food looks. so. good. I don't travel with my bub since she's not really a new-people person. Its a bit difficult. I do workout on my vacations, maybe not as often and/or as long, but its better than nothing! And I do still try to eat healthy (with the occasional indulgence since it is vaca, after all) because I don't want to feel like crap after eating like crap the whole time.

    1. Elliott, being a rescue, came with his set of issues that took a while to work on, we're still working on them, but he's gotten so much better being friendly and welcoming around new people!

  5. Ah, so jealous of your awesome weekend. Not only is the hotel gorgeous, but the food looks INCREDIBLE!!! Holy crap! Glad you had a relaxing and fun time.

And yes, I workout on vacation. I love working out, so it's not a 'chore' or extra work. If I could take a FITNESS vacation or go to a "cross fit" summer camp that would be so cool!

  6. That hotel looks beautiful! I dont bring my pets on vacarion but with two cats that would be quite the picture. If im with my husband im pretty good about working out and eating heathly but if its a trip with my girlfriends ususlly shit hits the fan and there is no working out (unless hungover shopping counts). Im heading to costa rica for two weeks in march and have a wod planned for each day so hopefully i stick with it. Ps- you two do look like such partner in crimes in those pics*love*

    1. Costa Rica is going to be a blast! Are you going on a mission trip? A Groupon? On your own?

Oh yes, Elliott and I are quite gangsterous. :P

  7. Ah I'm so jealous of your relaxing weekend! The Ritz looks beautiful and I love that you took full advantage of the delicious food and drinks :) Whenever it's vacation I eat things I enjoy and have fun. I always end up working out because, like you, I love to move! My husband and I like to find local hiking places if possible :)

    1. They had a BEAUTIFUL 7 mile hiking trail of varying difficulty that I wanted to try so bad, but the weather was so gross (rainy and cold), we opted for cozy, indoor things, like spa time and eating by the fireplace.

  8. Don't have a dog, wish i did because my son loves puppies!! To be honest i haven't gone on vacation but if i did i don't think i would work out, ugh thats the truth! LOL! I love that you got your workout in, thats DETERMINATION, and i need that!

    1. Hey, I wasn't always like this! If you would have asked me if I'd be working out on my vacation three years ago, I'd look at you like you'd just spoke to me in some Martian language!

  10. Looks like a lovely weekend! When I'm on vacation I try and still eat clean but don't completely avoid treats either. It is vacation after all ;)

What is the tattoo on your forearm/wrist? Every now and then I notice it but have never fully seen it.

    1. I had it done after my first half marathon (something I surely thought I would die from) ... it reads, "untie the ribbon," meaning the most teachable moments are the most challenging moments, the moments where we grow are the most precious ... life is a gift, as long as we choose to SEE it that way (and all of its challenges, like training and running and completing a half marathon) are beautiful ... untie the ribbon. :)

    2. That's really neat! I've been contemplating getting a tattoo in that same location on my arm. Most likely relating to my recent full marathon finish. With as much as I love half marathons I'm pretty sure that will be my one and only full 26.2

  11. Hi! I just found you and I really enjoy your blog! I got into CF a couple months ago, have run off and on for several years (never seriously, just a half here and there), and am trying my hand at clean/Paleo eating. You're right up my alley!!

As far as MyFitnessPal. how do you track all of the food that you eat on vacation? Just give it a go at identifying everything that went into, say, your salad? Or dessert? Weekends/cheat days I tend to give up on tracking (which puts me off my tracking game a bit) because I don't really know what to put in.
