Snoring during Savasana

I absolutely loved today's workout. And not because I programmed it, but because medball cleans are just fun! 


We warmed up our legs in Spin class, then hit the gym for the WOD. It's been a bit since I've seen medball cleans, not since my Level 1. It was a nice change of pace.

I've also seen a huge improvement in my sit ups since this summer. I seriously sucked at them. How someone can be so bad at situps, I have no idea. I can't say that anything in particular I've been doing has directly improved them, except continuing to build overall strength through big, compound movements: heavy kettlebell swings, snatches, cleans, deadlifts. I can say my skin must be toughening up, because I don't suffer from monkey butt anymore, either. THANK GOODNESS.

Since tomorrow is our rest day, I wanted to treat my body to something extra nice: a wonderful Yoga class with one of the best yoga teachers I have ever practiced with! Who KNEW you weren't supposed to hold Warrior III on your face?


You might be asking: Spin class, CrossFit, and Vinyasa? Are you nuts? Well, I was well fueled and well rested. Plus, I'm on vacation. This is how I like to spend my free time. While most of my friends don't have quite the same appetite for sweating and endorphins as I do, I did have one friend that tagged along with me for yoga, so I wasn't alone.

Like I said, I was well fed this morning. Check out this dinner I feasted on last night at Rudy's BBQ:


That's a half a pound of lean brisket, baby! (Well, I ate most of it. The rest came home with me for lunch this afternoon.) Along with some beans, spicy carrots, and peach cobbler. Don't forget the beer. When in Rome ...


Yesterday's WOD was Outlaw inspired ...


The hang squat clean to thrusters were brutal at 95 pounds. BRUTAL. Which is apparent, as my times just got slower and slower.


Now if you'll excuse us, we have some serious business to attend to, like Just Dance 4!

  2. my roommate has just dance 2 and i was so obsessed with it I brought it home for thanksgiving for the whole family to play. on christmas mom bought us just dance 4, its okay but not as many great songs as 2--- highly recommend hunting down that version

  5. Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only person who sucks at situps. Also this monkeybutt thing that you mention sounds like what I am dealing with. My skin gets rubbed off right at my tailbone and it's incredibly uncomfortable. No one else seems to suffer so I felt like it was just something weird about me.
    Also, The Walking Dead continues to be awesome. Enjoy!

    1. Yes, that chaffing we call monkey butt! I swear by Body Glide! Rub it all over the area that gets it before the WOD, it helps.

  7. Where do you get the inspiration for programming workouts? Do you base it off of workouts you've done or come up with something yourself?
    Just curious how various people get their inspiration :)
    FYI I sent you an email about Kettlebell sport, not sure if you received it!

  8. I've never seen Walking Dead, but I have recently gotten hooked on Justified. I totally get you on the sit-up thing. They hurt my backside!

    Also, I just wanted to put this out there in a place at least one person would appreciate it... I did FGB today for the first time, and came out with a score of 244 Rx. Holy lung burner, Batman! But really, I'm proud of myself. I'm still a baby Crossfitter (since mid-August), but I've got the bug, and I've got it bad!
