Flex Fridays

Flex Fridays are all the rage on Instagram right now, so I'm bringing it to my blog for a little muscle growing inspiration!

We've got zero filter on these biceps and those wrinkles.

Can I just tell you how proud I am of my forearms, even more than my biceps. Forearm strength is where it's at. That shows true functional fitness. If you're new to CrossFit, you know how hard it is so swing a kettlebell, hold on to a barbell, the pullup bar, because your grip strength is so weak. This is why bicep curls and cable pulldowns are weak sauce!

Please send me your photos to be featured on my blog on Fridays! Show me your guns! Or your quads. Or your abs. Please, show me your abs, mine need some serious inspiration right now, Lord.

After work and the gym (whooo, the weekend!) I made it home to shower and headed out to get my nails and hair done in preparation for our Christmas Ball tomorrow.

Nothing too fancy with the the hair, just a trim. But, I did snag these amazing new products that are rocking my limp locks to life. A little more money than I would normally spend, but this mousse, Phomollient, is incredible. And the Control Force hair spray kept my hair curled even after the sleeping in it, a Spin class, and a WOD. Yeah, seriously.

Speaking of workouts, the last few days have been brutal. My abs are sore. My ass is sore. My back is sore. Oh, I benched 110x5 on my last set of bench press following Wendler's 5/3/1. Which puts my 1RM right around 125. I like where my strength is going following Wendler. Can't wait to see where my numbers are in a few more mesocycles.

Speaking of freakish workouts, today's was a burner.

I posted this on Instragram, and a few others felt inspired to follow it. It's awesome to know I wasn't suffering alone through it today.

And if you don't have a barbell, just grab a friend! That's what friends are for!

Name one hair product you can't live without and why.
It has to be this new hairspray from Aveda, my limp and naturally straight locks love it. And it keeps my curls plump and bouncy, even in the crazy ATL humidity.

What's one movement you are trying to master?
Bar muscle ups, I just discovered a spot where I can practice them, so practice them I will. And walking on my hands.

  1. Woman, your arms are amazing! And I'm so jealous of your tan!
I'm trying to improve my 500m time on both the erg rower and ski erg... have you ever tried the ski erg? It's so much more brutal than the rower!

    1. Sorry, that comment above was supposed to be a reply to another commenter below, my damn iPhone! (or user error, don't lie)

I haven't tried an erg skier, it sounds like the bees knees those!

The tab is thanks to million dollar tan, an awesome sunless tanning product.

  2. You inspire me! I meed to get better about my eating habits- my muscles are (mostly) hidden under flab everywhere.

Hair product: DevaCurl Set Up & Above. It's the only thing that helps my curls rock on a consistent basis.

And I'm still working on getting a pull-up. I'm improving and moving to smaller bands, but I feel like I still have so far to go!

    1. Keep it up! Switch up the bands for jumping pull ups, I find that they are WAY harder, and I've had clients make progress much faster.

  5. Girl, you are such an inspiration! My arms WILL look like yours one of these days.

I hate hate hate going to get my hair cut because I always end up spending so much on Aveda products. My fave is their leave-in, I think it's called Restore. It works amazingly well and I love how it smells.

  12. Girl, you're seriously such a boss!! I LOVE upper body strength. It is so friggin empowering, especially when you look in the mirror one day and your traps are completely 100% poppin' out.

p.s. That WOD (and the one in the last post) look way nasty. Sharing with all of my crossfit biddies.

  14. I've been using the Aveda Phomollient for the past month or so and love it... Definitely pricey but a little goes a long way.

I also want to try FREAK! I may do it this weekend!
