Socks with the Fur

Guys, can you feel it? It's Thursday night ... the weekend is almost here! I celebrated with an epic and delicious breakfast of protein custard oats.

Topped with flax, Uncle Sams cereal, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, and pumpkin pie spice, it was amazeeee ballz.

Thanks to an insane and constantly changing work schedule (many nights I'm away from home traveling), I've had to rearrange my gym routine (and it's always changing. I try to make it to the gym 5 days a week, 6 days on a good week, 4 days on a not so good week). I'm realizing that some days I'll be able to work out in the mornings, some days I'll  have to move my workouts to the evenings.

A shout out to everyone out there in the world with full time jobs that manage to CrossFit, train for marathons, train for fitness competitions: you are my heroes! You are my motivation in these turbulent times. Juggling a crazy work schedule including traveling, family, trying to eat clean, to just make it into the gym, let alone train effectively and consistently, this shizz is no joke!

So, I've mapped out my week like this per my client list:

Monday: Wendler + CrossFit
Tuesday: CrossFit
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Wendlers + CrossFit
Saturday: Wendlers + CrossFit
Sunday: CrossFit

The last two days of rest have felt fantastic. I guess I could say it's active rest, on Wednesday I ran about 3 miles, and walked an additional 2, and on average for work I walk about 5 miles. So, I'm still moving and grooving, just not at a CrossFit pace.

I don't know about you guys but I've had Christmas on the brain!

I saw an epic Pinterest craft involving pine cones and lotsa glitter. Sasssafrasssss.

I've also started Holiday shopping.
And making my list for Santa.

Nike Free 5.0's in leopard. Yes, leopard. Rawr.

I am so bummed. They were $100 on Amazon, then Cyber Monday came, they went on sale, and now they are out of my size! Damnit shizz in the cockpit crap house fuggmonkey dunk.

But, they do have them in the grey. I love the coral leopard on the inside, but I just have a feeling these could get dirrrrrrrty.

What pair do you prefer? Should I hold our for the darker pair or score on the lighter grey?

I've been holding on to my discount code that I got from my Level 1 cert, too (whoop!) for the CrossFit Reebok Store ... I keep eyeing these babies.

I just think this color is pretty much the most amazing color. Ever. But, I know I could run in my Nike Free's, and I'm not sure how I'd like to run in these, as I've never owned a pair. I also have a really hard time buying things that say CrossFit on it. It's kind of dorky. The whole CrossFit fashion thing is kind of dorky, the knee socks on Annie days (really? You're not anywhere around a climbing rope or a barbell, those are unnecessary).

But, who I am kidding. I wear the thousand dollar tee shirt and the damn socks. Together.

Can't wait until they come out with the socks with the fur.

Just wait, it's gonna happen.

    1. I love my compression/lifting socks from Rogue. Otherwise, LifeAsRx always makes cute, sometimes snarky pairs, or the Target route. Cheap, effective. :)

  7. The leopard shoes are cool! GO with those.
Question from the other days post. Do you do the full squat with the power cleans or just bring the bar up to your chest without the squat?

    1. You're talking about Grace? Grace, as prescribed, is 30 power clean and jerks, for time, at 95# for the ladies. The power clean is cleaned from the ground and caught in the power (standing, maybe a slight bend in the knees), whereas a normal clean (a squat clean) is caught in a deep squat (like the olympic lifters). Hope this helps.

    2. I meant to say "caught in the power position"

    3. Thanks! I get the difference. I can power clean more weight than squat cleans. Something about the movement. If there's more weight, I tend to fall forward with the squat cleans.

  9. When I saw the title of this post all I could think of was Flo Rida's "Get Low" when he says "...boots with the fur..." Happy Friday!

  10. Definitely wait for the dark leopards.

I hate the knee socks for lifting. Somehow, I don't mind the compeltely dorky compression socks for running, but haven't found any good options for lifting. My poor shins :(

  12. I have the Nanos and they're not bad for running! I wouldn't wear them on a day with 800 repeats necessarily (I use my Reebok RealFlex for those days) but they are definitely a good shoe :)
