Poopy Face

Today's workout:

60 minute EPIC spin class (my poor sore bum, I forgot what it was like to be on the bike this much ...)
and then
5 rounds
10 pullups, strict
20 bulgarian split squats, 10 each leg
8 heavy kettlebell goblet squats (I used 24kilos) 32X0

What's that weird 32X0 thing? That's a tempo. CrossFit Invictus does a GREAT job of explaining it here. The 3 stands for three seconds on the way down, holding it for 2 seconds in the bottom, and exploding back up. Um, on the 3rd or 4th round it won't feel like you're too powerful out of the bottom on that explosive drive up. That's why we practice it!

Cash out:
15x2 GHD situps
3 max effort deep dips

Erin asked what's up with all the dog photos?

These are my clients!

I wear a few hats, a new one of which happens to be pet sitting, dog walking, dog running, pet taxi, etc. The running has to be the best part. Getting paid to run? And since my husband doesn't want a big dog (aka a good running dog), I get my fix with these fur babies!

If hanging out in Piedmont Park or being able to throw the ball around after a run isn't sweet enough, how about not being stuck behind a desk! Having a flexible schedule. No uniforms. No starchy collared shirts or high heels. I don't have to worry if my hair looks a mess (it always does) or if my socks match (they don't), animals are just pretty awesome like that.

My girl Lola looking fierce!

I work for a great, local company based ITP in ATL. I have my neighborhoods that I work within, dealing with furbabes one on one. You won't see me doing any of this:

Is that a small horse I see?!

So, after working with a few clients this morning, I made it to lunch and a movie with the Soldier.

We went to a local Irish pub here in Decatur, so delicious. I had a Stone IPA on draft.

That my friends is the tastiest omelette you ever did see (from the Brunch menu). My husband's fish and chips blew my mind, though. BLEW MY MIND!

While wishing I'd worn my stretchy pants, we headed to the theatre to see Skyfall.

I think this is the best Bond movie to date! If you have a man in your life, he will want to see it, and you need to be excited to see it with him! I'd see it again. And not just because Daniel Craig is kind of stunning.

Have a great weekend!

1. Have you seen any good movies recently?
2. Are you a Daniel Craig fan?
3. What's your favorite kind of squat?
Don't tell me you don't squat! Every time I hear that, God kills a kitten.

More squatting = less poopy face.

  1. I just saw Perks of Being a Wallflower and loved it! It was very similar to the book because the author was the director and screenwriter, ah it was so good! And is it weird that i like front squats? The first time i tried them i hated them because I sucked at them, and now ( i still kind of suck, but not as badly)I don't mind doing them and feel like a badass when I do them in my college gym. Goblet squats are great though, and that tempo looks killer!

    1. Front squats are also one of my favorites! Though they were challenging in the beginning, thanks to my grandma-like joint mobility ... I learned to love them because they're one of the few squats that don't flare up my sciatic nerve, I think because the load stays more forward based?

  2. Your job rocks! I used to do pet sitting on the side of my waitressing jobs and LOVED it. Animals are just too fun...except for the one that needed an inhaler..and the one that shit on the wall...they weren't any fun at all.

    1. I will let you know when both of those happen! I am sure it's bound to happen ;) So far, I just get a lot of kisses and tail wags, maybe a little more fur on my pants than normal ...

    1. Dogs and a husband, and maybe a barbell, what more could a girl need?

  5. Skyfall was uh-mazing! Went yesterday as well with the hubby and my dad. It pretty much defines the word "epic" and completely rocked my socks off. I think that Daniel Craig may be the best James Bond, though Sean Connery was pretty awesome back in his day too. Hope you're having a lovely weekend! =)

  8. Overhead Squats for the win!!! I love that they take so much concentration and focus. Plus, being able to say you can thrown 100+ lbs over your head and THEN squat it makes it even more badass of a squat.

    1. Start at an affiliate - look for an affiliate in your area. It's really important to learn the fundamental movements. The CrossFit Mainsite and CrossFit Journal are great sources for information as well.

  13. How do you charge for your "dog services?" I'm a stay at home mom that would love an additional reason to get my rear in gear. I CF 3-4 times a week but sometimes its hard to get in when I'm wanting more because of my 3.5 yr old...He loves to go but can be a huge distraction yelling from the corner "Are you done yet?" in the middle of a wod...haha nothing like a screaming 3.5 yr old to push you harder/faster....Love your blog!
