Sassafrass Smoothies: Kale Goddess

I've been keeping something from you, dear readers. My little secret stash of awesome.

I love smoothies, because I find them incredibly filling (all of that liquid really expands in my stomach), so they're great for a snack in-between meals, after the gym, or before a meal (studies prove soup eaten prior to the main course leads to a decrease in overall calories consumed, I like to think smoothies do the same.) Plus, a semi-sweet smoothie like this is a great way to kill a sweet tooth. I always make a smoothie before I go grocery shopping, so I'm not tempted to pop a container of Fig Newtons or Twinkies into my cart. 

Sassafrass Smoothies: Cleansing Kale Goddess

  • 1 cup kale leaves
  • 1/2 Gala apple
  • 1/3 avocado
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 tsp guar gum
  1. Blend everything together. Add water to thin or ice to thicken!
  2. Drink and enjoy!
*Kale is extremely rich in chlorophyl, a phytonutrient that empowers the digestive system and boosts the immune system. I'm hoping it helps kick this cold in the ass!
