My Coffee Order

Today's workout: rest

I woke up this morning feeling like a train had run me over. My sad excuse of a body is done in from Mary on Friday. DOMS, dun-dun-dun.

I also forgot a few things at my house (I was house-sitting last night), like socks, and running sans socks just didn't seem comfortable on top of knotted-up muscles, so I called it quits and just made it a rest day.

I met the husband for breakfast at The Flying Biscuit cafe. This place is crazy busy on the weekends, so while we were waiting for a table, we crossed the street over to Caribou for some coffee. Funny story: the husband has no idea how to order coffee. He doesn't know the difference between a Latte, an Amiercano, espresso, whatever. So I order him an Americano with room, so that he can sweeten and cream as he likes it.

An Americano is just hot water added to a shot of espresso. Someone mentioned that Caribou's syrups have high-frustoce corn syrup in them (doesn't surprise me), which is why I just opt for my plain old Americano, no sugar, no sweetener. I do add a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg for the aroma.

The Flying Biscuit is famous for there, no shit, biscuits. My husband eats them by the dozen, and the apple butter they serve with them kind of blows my mind. But, I opt for an egg-white scramble with double veggies: mushrooms, spinach, onions and bell peppers, sprinkle of S&P and Tobasco, side of fruit. Traditionally, all of the dishes come with their dreamy grits (that are so dreamy!) but full of cheese, dammit, so I pass.

The pains of getting older: having issues with certain foods. I miss the days when I could just eat ice cream all day. Not that I could ever do that, but just saying.

I'm not into celebrity news usually, but I have a serious girl crush on Jessica B. I was in love with her bangs and her dark blue nails in this photo (JT could fall off a cliff, I'd care less) ... I'm just waiting for hell to freeze over my front layers to get a little longer before I pull off that full fringe. And maybe lose like 10 pounds from my face.

Gertrude, Garry, Rodney? Those are some pretty bad middle names! I thought my middle name was bad! But Kate Hudson's middle name really is Garry! Gertrude is actually kind of cute, I imagine she was named after her grandma, which is extra cute.

So let's share it!
1. What's your middle name?

I'll start: mine is Dianne. It was spelled Diane until I had my name legally changed when I was married, and decided I needed two n's to sass it up a little.

2. What's your usual coffee drink order?
An Americano and when I'm not on the WLC, I like sugar-free syrups or a little soy milk in it. I make my coffee most mornings in the Keurig, so it's rare I even stop for java. I did buy some Morning Blend K-Cups from Caribou. Did you know the lighter the blend, the more caffeine it has in it?!

  1. I normally don't drink coffee here in the U.S (I'm spoiled with Swedish delicious bold coffee). However, when I'm on my way somewhere for vacation, I always get a sugar free vanilla latte at the Starbucks in the airport. Too bad I'm broke and can't go on vacation often... haha.

And my middle name is Maria. Same name as my mom and aunt, and I imagine I'll pass it down to my kids (if I have daughters, that is...) Your middle name instantly made me think of CrossFit. Diane is my box's benchmark wod this month!

  2. Comparing my middle name to one of the Hurricanes, I'll take it! I might actually LIKE my middle name now. Thanks, parents!

  3. Im so jealous! I actually don't have a middle name & when I was little I would always get so angry. There was a time period when all of my friends would write their full name on assignments & I would just make one up like Lynn or Alice.

Coffee? You mean life support? haha I'm such an addict. My go to is an almond milk expresso yummmmm

    xoxo, Grether

    1. Grether, this story had me laughing out loud! You must have been the cutest damn kid! Ok, and so nuts, I really wanted to change my first name to Lynn when I was a kid. Like, drew up the legal documents (pencil and lined paper) for the parents to sign and everything ... ;)

I don't know why I said soy milk, probably because that's the only non-dairy alternative a lot of coffee shops offer. At home I also use TJ's plain Almond Milk.

  4. Mine is Yvonne Lorraine ( I go by Lori), but my husband calls me Y-vonne (long Y) just to mess with me.... Went to Lori Love ( my maiden name is Love ) when I got married since no-one calls me Yvonne, except for wayward messages pertaining to spam or finance... LOL ;) or maybe a crazy hubbie....

    1. I love Yvonne! That was my aunt's name, and she passed recently. She was one of my favorite women.

  5. My middle name is Rayne; since I bumped it out of the way and began using my maiden name as my middle name soon after the 'I do's' were said, I gave it to my first (of two) daughter. My other kiddo's middle name is Chayse. And, we certainly 'chayse' her! LOL

    1. I always thought it'd be nice to keep my last name as a middle name, but WORTHINGTON just isn't very middle-name-ish, ya know? ;) I love Chayse!

  7. Mine is Coleen not to be confused with Colleen. So in pronunciation it's Cole-een instead of the Call-een that everyone normally hears/says. I love it!!

    1. My step mom's name is Windy, not WHEN-DEE, like everyone like's to pronounce, so I gotcha on the COLE-een ;)

  8. My middle name is the classic Anne with an "e." I order a lot of skinny vanilla lattes from Starbucks. Or I like it black too.

  9. No middle name here. My drink of choice...americano with heavy cream.

  10. My middle name is Ann, I know, how dramatic, mysterious and sexy.... but I was named after my late Meemaw, so I embrace it, cause she was awesome (full blooded German awesome)
Fave coffee: at home it's Columbian (hubby got me hooked) at SB's which is a rare once a monthish treat, depends on the season. Recently it's Salted Caramel Mocha and I ask em to make it as skinny as possible, HA!

  11. Mine is Diane too, but spelled DYAN. :) Not big on Starbucks, but go with lots of milk in my coffee at home.

    1. Dyan with a y is so cute! Why didn't I think of that?!

  12. Mine is Colleen. I liked it so much that I considered going by Colleen instead of Meghan!

I am not usually a coffee drinker, but I love Trader Joe's pumpkin spice cofee with whatever creamer my husband has in the fridge. MMMM.

  14. My middle name is Louise, I've gone from hating it, to loving it, to just being pretty indifferent about it. But its a kick when people say the popular saying "Geez Louise" to me, since its my actual name. My go-to morning drink is homemade brew I brought back from Honduras last year with a little light cream added.

  15. Jess Biel has a killer bod and works for it--I understand your crush!

My middle name is as plain as my first: Anne and I used to have no idea what type of coffee drink I liked--I still am clueless so I default to skinny, vanilla latte...yes, artificial sweetner & milk--how I wished starbucks used almond milk! Soy is too sweet for me!

  16. I'm glad I wasn't the only kid that wanted to change their name! I wanted to be named Erin. Loved the name and daydreamed about being called Erin in class! Ha!

My middle name is Amber and I have never liked it. Funny though, I never even thought of changing it. My Maiden name is Creek so that wouldn't really work either.

Mmmm coffee. After running out of coffee at home I thought it would be good to take a coffee break and challenge myself to a month without it...I lasted 2 weeks. My go to coffee is a coffee americano with a touch of cream. Yum!

  17. I Loooove my Caribou kcups - I get the 80 count box from Sams. And my middle name is Janice. It feels so "old lady" to me because it was my grandma's name. LOL.

  18. My boyfriend's mom spells her name Dianne and I think it's really pretty too! I actually go by a nickname of my middle name, it's Christine.

And I actually don't drink coffee, so I have no idea how to order it, or what I should order? Any suggestions on sweet coffees for a non-coffee drinker?

  19. My middle name is Luvenia. It's a family name that I hated! I swore up and down I would never give my child that name. Yet, when my oldest daughter was born, she became Olivia Luvenia. We call her Livvie Lu and it works for her. I still hate it for myself though. My sisters got Elizabeth or Isabel. I always thought my parents hated me!

  20. Haha your posts are hilarious! Middle is Xavier-pronounced with the X not a j which people usually think. And I've never had coffee and when i do get the guts to try it. I wimp out because ordering is seems like a science experiment. They ask you like a billion questions. Why can't they have something on the menu for beginner coffee drinkers.
