I Just Like To Be Naked

Guess what's baking in the oven?

These tasties! Sweet Potato Chews inspired by this recipe from 17 Apart.

Not for me, for my sweet fur munchkin.

He is the pickiest little eater, but he loves some sweet potato. What are your dogs favorite treats? What kind of dog(s) do you have and what is/are their names?

All in a days work! I feel like such a lucky gal to hang out with the sweetest, loveliest fur babies. The fact that I've found not one, but two jobs, where I don't have to sit at a desk and can hang out in my sweaty gym clothes, is awesome!

Before heading to the box this morning to coach, I hit up my local gym for some quality time running stairs. If I'm going to run a Half Marathon on Thanksgiving, I need to spend some more time on my feet. I was surprised to find that eating bon bons in front of the TV is not the way to train, but this is more effective. Cray.

155 BPM average, 169 BPM max. I like to wear my monitor when I'm walking and running with the dogs, too. It's easier for me to look down and know what range I'm in, rather than guess what I think my RPE is. Do you wear a heart rate monitor, or do you train based on your RPE?

Yesterday's workout would have blown my heart rate monitor up.

I worked up to 135 pounds on the push press (woot! anything body weight or higher makes me super happy) and used a 44lb kettlebell for the metcon. The weight was not prescribed, but was left for the athlete to decide: something that is challenging to the point that you have to set the kettle bell down sometime during those 20 reps.

Death by hand stand push ups, shit. Can you tell I was sweating like a beast with those chalk stains? The chest to bar pullups were included in the 15 minutes. You had to "buy in" like you would with poker, before you could "play" at the WOD. The faster you got your chest to bars done, the more time you had to work on the WOD, for a total of 15 minutes.

I finished 5 rounds + 15 reps, Rx'ed.

And then my arms fell off and my head rolled away.

I also coached yesterday, so I was left doing the WOD on my own. Suckfest ultra.

Last night we saw Paranormal 4! I was scared kind of over the whole story. Anything that has more than a 2nd is lame. How many of these damn movies are they going to make? Any chance to hold this handsome man's hand and scream like a wimp, I guess!

My 3 Must Have beauty products. Considering how often I never do my hair, I'm surprised I even have Must Have beauty items besides a hair tie or a hat ... But I do. Paul Mitchel super skinny serum keeps my hair soft and supple and zero frizz, the Joico Color Endure line is hands down the best for color treated hair, worth every penny, and all of the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze products rock. No streaks, no weird smell, just a nice glow. I used to spend a crap ton on tanning bronzers from Ulta, like SUN and BAKED, but realized this stuff is just as good as that stuff, and way cheaper.

Take a shower, exfoliate.
Spray it on major areas, rub it over the skin, not into the skin. I apply my regular body lotion right on top, I feel that this makes it not quite as intense and more natural.

To avoid it rubbing off (no, it doesn't stain), I wander around my house naked for a few minutes, this isn't necessary though. I think I just like to be naked.

Do you feed your dog fancy treats?
Do you wear a HR monitor?
Do you have a mandatory beauty product you can't live without?

  1. I'm obsessed with my heart rate monitor. It's such a good motivation for me when I see exactly how many calories I burn. It also makes my workouts more efficient.

I'm loving that you posted that tanning product, I'm actually in the market for some new bronzing products after my past products have proved to be less than acceptable. I will definitely give it a shot!

    1. I don't pay much attention to the calories, but I do pay attention to the BPM and the range I'm in. Certain training runs need to be in certain RPE zones, and just having a HR monitor makes it easier. :)

  3. I've got a German Shepherd/Pitbull mix, Ripley. He is a rescue and the sweetest guy ever. Most people are terrified of him, which sort of sucks, but he is the biggest love bug in the world. His normal treats since he was a puppy are carrots, however, the fiancé got him hooked on bacon bits... carrots are now in second place on the treat list... haha!

    1. It's their loss! For some reason, the Indian population that I live among (there is a mosque very close by) is terrified of dogs. If I'm not careful, they'll the little kids will try to kick my dog when I'm checking the mail and turned away from him, and the ladies just RUN when they see him. He's 7 pounds!

  4. I so wish that I could have your jobs! I'm on my feet teaching all day and not behind a computer, but those jobs sounds ideal. Dogs and fitness = my passion. I have four dogs - Jack, a gorgeous white husky, and three miniature schnauzers -Dixie, Maddie, and my main man, Tank:)

  5. Got five fur babies - 3 cats (Leo, Mica, and Isis) and 2 dogs ( Levi - a 70 lb. Redbone Coon Hound/Rhodesian mix and Harley - a 7 lb. Chorkie - long hair Chihuahua/Yorkie mix) All are rescues from either the pound or the ASPCA. It's a house full, but we have a big house, so we are fine. They will eat anything - literally. Not a picky bone in ANY of their bodies. Even the cats do well with most anything....
Love the Bare Escentuals line of bronzer - faux tan. It matches the Mystic Tan I get in the summer time!! Love that stuff.

  6. I'd love to try a heart monitor sometimes, but I usually have my Garmin and my phone and that semes like enough. Do you walk dogs? We have two hilarious dogs -- a Boykin Spaniel named Boyd and a Chocolate Lab/Vizsla named Pippa. Both still sleeping. In our bed.

    1. I do walk dogs at the moment, for a local company here in Atlanta. I never imagined it would be such a booming business, but here in the city, everyone has dogs but no one has time to walk them, or they just travel so much they don't have time to spend with them. That's where I come in! I get to play with dogs in their homes, walk them in their neighborhoods, and house sit for them when they're away.

    1. I usually only use mine when I'm running, but being such a numbers person, I really like mine, too.

  8. I NEED a HR monitor! What do you use?
My dogs get whatever i'm cooking that "accidentally" falls on the floor (sure beats me having to bend over and pick it up)
I used to live and die by PM Super skinny, but went to something cheaper (rethinking that btw) Um.... I guess my must haves are my Mary Kay stuff, cleanser/moisturizer, makeup, etc :)

  10. Love critters - I literally work with them 24/7. Have 4 of my very own: cats Koshka - 4 legs, Arwynn - 3 legs dogs Asher - 4 legs, Maxwell - 4 legs. All rescues from various places (the best way!). Everyone eats everything. We stay away from foods made in China, garlic, onions, grapes, raisins (all toxic). I like Blue treats and this Canadian company makes dog treats (sweet potato thing) that they like only I forget the name.

No HR monitor. If I'm at the gym, I'll check it on a machine.

Vaseline coco butter lotion and moroccan oil.

    1. I have to agree with you on coco butter! And I keep trying to tell my husband that the nights I cook with garlic and onions (almost every night) Elliott can't lick his plate, but he lets him anyways. :(

  13. We have a chocolate lab/pit bull mix named Baja who is the sweetest dog ever, but people are terrified of her because she looks like a pit. She wants to be everyone's friend and I think she gets sad when people don't love her back. She will eat anything except vegetables. Unless those veggies taste like pizza. I burned a cauliflower pizza crust, left the room for a couple minutes and she had gobbled it up!

I know this is not regarding this post, but I want to say that I admire you for getting out there and trying, in spite of how things have changed. Several years ago, I married a Navy guy and moved from Arizona to Washington state. I did not make a good military wife, was depressed, stayed inside, cried and just gave up. Needless to say, the marriage didn't work (but for many other reasons outside of the fact that I couldn't do it), and I missed out on some possible good times. I am happily married now though lol. Anyway, it's so awesome to hear honesty and good to know that we aren't alone. That you have struggles and aren't portraying life as perfect :) I hope that came out like a compliment and a thank you because that's how I meant it.

    1. What is this cauliflower pizza crust??? Sounds very intriguing and paleo friendly.

People who automatically dislike pit bulls are silly. The breed is actually very smart; it happens to be the PEOPLE that turned them into monsters. I work with them all the time in the hospital setting and pits are by no means one of the aggressive breeds we see. More commonly they drag us down the hall trying to say hello to everyone.

  14. I have a mutt. Not sure what her whole mix is. I'm thinking lab/shepherd/corgi(??) mix. She's just shy of my knees when she's on all 4s, but her body is longer than her height. Her name is Welker (like Wes Welker from the Patriots). She's my sweet snotface girl. Her treats are usually peanut butter in her Kong or I make sure to buy treats that are made in the USA (too much sketchy stuff from China)!

I love L'Oreal Sublime Bronze! I use the lotion, rather than spray. Other than that, I love Neutrogena face moisturizer. Its not greasy, but I look "dew-y" without makeup!

  15. I have a rescued Pomeranian that looks so much like a fox because I keep her trimmed short here in the tropics. She adores fresh apples pieces and she makes the best kitchen sweeper ever!

L'Oreal Sublime Sun goes on my face immediately after my shower and Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch over the remaining 98% of myself.
