D!ck in a Box

Hot banana balls, my readers are amazing!

... seriously? I am at a loss for words. I don't know how my wee little blog managed to garner so many amazing readers. Your words after yesterday's post meant the world to me. I even wrote a few of them down and put them on my fridge.

That you all didn't desert me or call me a Kardashian-drama queen and purge my blog forever from your Readers, means a lot. :) I feel like we could all sit around a camp fire and sing kum ba yah and braid each others hair. I like where this blog relationship is going ...

Thank you :)

"Feeling sorry for yourself, and your present condition, is not only a waste of energy but the worst habit you could possibly have." -Dale Carnegie

In an effort to look on the bright side, that's what I'm dedicating this post to: the bright side!

While I really miss these amazing people and everything at back at Fort Hood, if I don't stop looking back, I'm going to miss everything in the present.

Today started out a little rocky. I was in tears before walking into the gym, but I did make it into the gym, puffy-eyed and looking a mess. I don't think anyone even noticed though, with this sinus infection my eyes are pretty puffy, and well, I'm always just looking a mess anyways.

For the strength bit of class, we worked up to a heavy power snatch double, I hit 105. I'll take it. I've done a full snatch double at 110, so not sure what was up with today.

I did really start to feel the power of that triple extension, my muscles finally starting to store these complicated movements into their memory ...

Tall socks are mandatory on bar work days.

Metcon
 5 rounds of
15 unbroken kettlebell swings, heaviest weight possible (44#)
10 push ups unbroken (strict)
2:00 minutes airdyne for max calories/400m run/500m row
3:00 rest between rounds

(shoot for 2:30-3:30 minute rounds)

I Rx'ed this workout, and it had me feeling pretty pukie every round. That Airdyne is a beast. Do not let this innocent looking machine fool you.

I killed 40 calories in 2:00 the first round, then 38 cals, 36 cals, 34 cals and 35 cals on the 5th and final round.

Total time: 26:53
An interesting workout. Those 3:00 rests went by crazy fast. It was a pretty full class and it was great to just sweat it out communally.

Intern duties included stocking and organizing this beauty: our Pro Shop! Interested in a shirt, tall socks, protein, shaker bottles, lacrosse balls from CFM? Email me!

After work, I treated myself.

1/2 an ounce of coffee custard from Ritas. :) I spotted this place as I was leaving Trader Joes, and the outside just looked so cute.

Ice. Custard. Happiness.

Let me tell you, custard blows the socks off of any ice cream or gelato I have ever had! I definitely left feeling the happiness in my tummy.

It's always nice to come home to a package waiting for you.

No, not that kind of package

this kind of package.

Between the custard and the clothes, I have to say it was a happy ending to my day.

And these coconut flour zucchini pancakes weren't bad either. ;)

What was the last thing you bought online or received in the mail? Bills don't count!

  3. So glad you are feeling better! I know how hard being an army wife is, especially a PCS from amazing friends. We just moved from Ft. Carson to West Point and it has been a drastic change for us and has been so hard to meet friends like we had in Carson. Even worse is doing it all while adjusting to a baby in the house too! Just keep your chin up and live in the presence!

    1. We were at Carson before Hood, what a beautiful area. West Point is equally as stunning though. At least you have a baby to keep you company! I can imagine there are some awesome mommy groups in the area?

  4. So glad you are feeling more upbeat! Sometimes recharging and resetting your mindset can be the most difficult but also the most empowering thing. Being a mil-spouse can make that process 10 times more awful.

The last thing I got in the mail was a sewing machine. And I am STOKED! Now I can get on with my crafty self LOL As soon as I figure out how to use it that is!

Keep up your amazing work and spirit! :trots off to check out youtube sewing tutorials:

  8. Courtney, I have a machine you can just have. It could stand a tune up (and I can recommend a guy). I'm working over in your hood on Thursday, if you'd like to come by and pick it up. (seriously -- it's been sitting on the floor in my studio for at least three months)

  10. I just ordered bumper plates and an abmat from rogue today so I can work out at work and actually do olympic lifting! I live right by rogue, so i opted to go pick it up and save the $40 in shipping. I did just get a case of PB2 in the mail today:) Due to Labor day, I feel like I have been waiting forever! That's what I get for waiting until the last minute to order! We have a Whit's frozen Custard and it is heavenly. I treat myself with the vamilla custard with PB, Chocolate and Reese's cup, "Buckeye Madness". It is so dang good! I also bought the practical Paleo book. Definitely some great recipes!

  11. I used to live RIGHT by that Ritas custard & TJ's! I lived between 9th & 10th, across from the high school. ANYWAY, the cake batter custard is AMAZEballs. You MUST try it.

Your new posts about Midtown are bringing back old memories, I lived there from 2003-2005. Sorry you're missing Ft. Hood, I still yearn for when I was stationed at Ft. Meyer & Ft. Belvoir. You're living in a great part of Atlanta, just wait until the dogwoods start blooming in the spring: Dogwood Festival & the Peachtree 10k on 4th of July!
