I'm a Nutcase

A few weeks back, the fine folks at Nutcase Crunch sent me a sampling of their stuff.

It's a cereal lovers dream! Only 4g of sugar, 6g of carbs, 5g of protein and proudly made right here in the USA.

It would be totally delicious with a just a little coconut or almond milk, but this morning I wanted to dress it up.

Enter: the melon bowl.

Juicy fruit, crunchy nuts, what's not to love?

Nutcase Crunch tastes awesome toasted too! I put a serving in a small dish and microwaved it for about a minute. The flavors of the nuts really become unlocked, combined with a hint of toasted coconut, yum, off the chain.

It was "Make-Up" day at the box. A chance to make-up any of the workouts that were maybe missed throughout the week. This gives all the members a chance to make it on the leader board, as a lot of the workouts we're doing are benchmarks.

Since today marks the 6-year anniversary of my good friend's husbands death, we decided to do a Hero WOD in his honor. I put a 35 minute cap on it, to prevent myself from becoming that asshole.

At the 35 minute mark, I had just finished the 20 knee to elbows, all weight and movements as prescribed. I was happy that a lot of the movements were unbroken: the box jump burpees, the cleans, the front squats, I didn't need to set the bar down. The thrusters I did partition into sets of 5 as well as the overhead squats - I was just getting tired.

I miss my peeps at back in Texas, but it was good to know that I could WOD with them in spirit.

After the WOD, the box held it's Food as Fuel class, a Paleo/Nutrition Q&A session. It was great to go over some of the nutrition basics, how to fuel, fueling for performance, fueling for weight-loss, eating an anti-inflammatory diet, and supplementing. It's got me pumped for The Whole Life Challenge coming up in September! 8 weeks of clean-eating, mobility, training and just plain ass-kickery!

I was so excited when I came home, I made a Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli and Turkey Bacon Salad.

Key ingredients: grainy mustard, cranberries, and toasted walnuts. I kind of felt like a little genius in the kitchen tonight, and the husband was crazy about it. Uber win, uber win!

In another stroke of genius, I took the middle of the burger out of the burger, and cracked an egg in there instead. Eggs-in-a sirloin-patty-basket?!

Grubbin!

Off to bed, Hooverball tomorrow morning at Peidmont Park. If you don't know what that is, no worries, neither do I!

  4. Though you weren't at Hood physically, you were still there mentally! We took the silly pics, did our usual banter, talked about "the part where I almost peed myself", and of course I did the long standing DOM DUCKFACE!Glad all is well and we miss you terribly!

    1. I used to too, but now I understand how they work. And what's crazy about the shorter workouts, is as we get better at CrossFit, they really become HARDER.

    1. I sleep on a clean face, and also use a cleansing towlette when I wake up and a toner. I'm a HUGE fan of Bare Minerals, because it has SPF in it! If I use lotion-type SPF, it is a INSTANT break out. I also use a little tinted bronzer/cheek tint on my cheeks from TART in coral, also SPF. Then waterproof mascara from Maybelline (it's in a yellow tube) and that's that. :)
