It's a Butterfly ... Pullup!

We're 90% packed! The husband and I have been slaving away! He thought we deserved Pizza Hut. I had to draw the line. I told him we could have a celebratory drink and that I would make dinner.

Since chilling out on the drinking, I've been so much happier. Even tonight, I had to ask the husband to finish my drink for me. Crazy, right? Who is this girl? I don't recognize her!

It was a delicious concotion: Orange Talking Rain (sparkling water, no calories), 1.5 oz of whisky, and a healthy amount of fresh lemon juice. Shake. Pour over ice. Lick your lips.

5-Star dining tonight! I know, it's hard to keep up with this level of class, folks.

A reader asked how I cook for my husband if I don't eat the same things he does, and tonight was a great example. I cook our meals 80% the same, with just a few small alterations to suit my marco needs. Like, the husband got a whole wheat bun, I had sautéed cabbage. He had ketchup, I had Sriracha sauce. He had 3 pieces of bacon, I had just one. :) I also piled mine crazy high with the most succulent grilled onions evaaaaa.

WOD's for the last two days have looked a little like this:

Tuesday
3 rounds for time:
50 double unders
20 dumb bell thrusters, 30# each hand
Time: 13:40

Wednesday
30 minutes Spin + WOD
For time:
1000m row
brutal --> 100 push press at 55#
10 muscle ups (subbed 3 ring dips/3 pull ups = 1 muscle up)
Time: 21:18

It's only Wednesday, and I've hit two PR's this week!

I finally have my butterfly pullup. Check out this vid my girl Melissa caught.

Honest to God, I was really surprised they looked that smooth.  They don't feel that smooth when you're up there on the bar. It kind of feels like a full body dry heave.

It's taken me a long time to get to this point. I wanted to butterfly so badly, since I first started CrossFit. I remember watching the Games last year and promising myself I would GET the butterfly kip. Not an easy feat for someone who couldn't even do a regular pullup at that time ...

(For some reason I can't figure out how to display the video on my page, so there it is on YouTube.)

And, I benched 130# this morning. 105% of my body weight, boom. Any lift at body weight or higher is a big deal to me. Since I just started benching though, and have never gone for a 1RM, I can't really dance around too much about this one. Next goal is 150#.

Have you hit any PR's this week? What are you waiting for? Go, go go!

    1. Brielle, you have to see some of the REAL athletes doing them during the Games. It's so sick. Google Camille Le Blanc Bazinet, her pullups are bad A!

    1. If by assisted you mean using a box and doing jumping pullups, that's what I did. And over time the box got short and shorter until I wasn't using it at all. :)

  8. I thought this was a funny post because I just FINALLY got my regular pulls ups today! it is funny how something like that can really satisfy you! I was doing crossfit for almost 5 months then had to stop about a month ago when I moved. Right now I am doing bikram yoga and running to an outside gym area where my husband and I do our own crossfit influenced workouts. I Plan on returning once we move again to Denver in August. Until then.... setting goals to stay on track :)
