I Say Hand Stand, You Say Push Up

Hand stand push up,
Handstand push up!

There were a few of those going around in today's workout ...

AMRAP 20:

(as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes)

7 pullups
10 push ups
15 air squats
5 hand stand push ups

I got 10 rounds + 7 pull ups + a few damn hand rips. This time on my pinkies. I think this is the last place I could possibly rip, so hopefully everything will be good and callused now. And will be healed for "Hope" on Saturday.

My palms are sweating just thinking about it.

I walked the dog afterwards and tried not to die (again) in the Texas heat. He was pooped afterwards! You'd think he'd walked a marathon or something, not a half a mile.

I picked up a Quest bar from GNC on my way home from the gym, I was disappointed! I guess they are edible - considering they're all natural, have no sugar and 20g of protein.

A few readers commented and said I needed to microwave it to get the "full effect."
Anyone else tried this?

I will stick with my favorites. Power Crunch and Oh Yeah Peanut Butter Wafers.

But these are my favorite, they taste like Twix!

But check out these stats! Bomb!

Do you have a favorite bar? Why? For me, I look for a decent protein content and low sugar content. less than 8g.

  1. Ouch on the pinkies! But wowza, you are killing it with the handstand pushups. Brava! As for bars, I like Think Thin Creamy Peanut Butter (zero sugar!, 20g protein) and Pure Protein Peanut Butter Chocolate (2g sugar, 20g protein) Both are yum.

ps - when you get to Georgia, look up the Good Nutrition stores. They carry PB2, original and chocolate!

    1. I made a note! We are think of McDonough, since Husband will be recruiting out of the Conyers Station. It's about a 20 minute commute, but husband said it'd be better than living in Conyers (not much happening there!)

    2. Ha, I assume he knows because he visited. Agree, though. We can't have you going stir-crazy here in Gawja. :)

  2. I stick with larabars if I'm desperate but I don't eat bars much, they don't do much for hunger and are typically lots of sugar.

    1. I don't do Larabar's, too much sugar! Fructose is still sugar :) I'd much rather have a fresh apple than a Larabar's. I find bars that have a good protein content pretty filling, espescially if consumed with water. They tide me over for 2-3 hours, which is perfect because that's about how often I eat.

    2. I think i will try the two that you eat. Im just so cautious on the ingredients because i have a sensitive stomach..

    3. If you are sensitive to sugar alcohols, these might upset your stomach. Careful :)

  4. I have my cheerleaders do handstand pushups and they all loathe them! You were definitely killing those!

I love the Oh Yeah wafers!!!!! OH MY GOSH they are delicious. There's one that tastes like the Nutty Butty bars. I also like larabars for a treat (high in sugar, but it's from the dates) or Clif Mojo bars (they just taste great - like trailmix in a bar). Sometimes I'll grab the pure protein bars as well.

    1. That's what I meant to say they taste like; Nutty Butty cookies! Not Twix ... So happy you've tried them, I'm obsessed :)

  5. i will have to look for the Oh Yeah wafers- i LOVE LOVE LOVE power crunch bars. those i do for snacks.
Before my half marathon races I do lara bars (which bc of the sugar from dates, gives me boost i need w/o upsetting my stomach. I don't like them for snacks though, just before races)
