The First Week Of The Year

2012 is shaping up pretty nicely!
8 days into the New Year ...

I was given the sweetest blogger award!
Thanks Miss Donna at Lip Gloss and Flip Flops!

(I read a lot of awesome blogs, so it will be hard to nominate just 15 of you! But it's coming up in the next post, stay tuned, I might pick your cute butt.)

I broke in the new Garmin!
I got 3 great runs in with it this week: a 6 mile tempo on New Years day, a 6 mile, ferociously hilly run on Fort Hood on Thursday, and a long run yesterday of 12 miles. Boom.

A nice, easy, comfortable pace. I had a blast listening to the Bobby Bones show on I Heart Radio. Oh, that radio show makes my long runs! My buddy running next to me (he isn't much of a chatter), thought I was losing my mind randomly bursting out laughing.

Did some sweet solider stuff!
My NCO's are training for the Bataan Death March in a few months, so I asked to tag along for some of their training on Friday morning. 0500 is really early, just FYI. I had no idea what the training would consist of. Well, I wound up running about 4 miles with a 20 pound assault pack on my back.

No, no weapon, just the pack. ;)

My low back is still bruised. But you know me, I pretty much loved every painful second of it.

Ate some awesome breakfasts!
My favorite meal of the day, what about you?

Pumpkin Pancakes and Cranberry Preserves

Broiled Grapefruit and Whole Wheat Pancakes topped with PB2.

Epic fail protein waffles.
Yeah, about that ...
I'm so over trying to cook with coconut flour and protein powder! Until next week.

Journeyed into Wild Country!
I am so blessed to have such amazing girl friends. There's a bond that Army wives share that is unlike any other bond. One of whiskey, cowgirl boots, and wild nights at Wild Country, a pretty fun western bar. It's awesome because I don't line dance. But I pretend to.

I call her Snooki. :)

Before I injured my back, we did Spin class 3 days a week. So, we were showing off our "spinning" legs. Not inebriated at all.

Going into the coming week,
I'm going to remember a few things.

Have a great week!

Is there anything you need to remember going into the new week? Something you're working on? A change of attitude you would like to see?

How is the New Year shaping up for you?
Have you met it with the fervor you were hoping to?

Always yours,
Courtney

  1. WHOA! How did that happen to your waffle maker? lol My condolences to the batter. I am debating if I should invest in a Garmin. Let us know how you like it after a few more runs, por favor.

  2. How are you liking your Garmin 305?? I loooove mine... sometimes I geek out on the stats. And the programmed fartlek (haha! yes, sometimes I laugh at FARTlek) run is one of my favorites.

The soldier stuff sounds legit - way to knock out 4 miles with a 20 pound pack.

OH! I wanted to tell you about Rock my Run! www.rockmyrun.com
    It reminded me of you.
