Training for The Cowtown

Yesterday's run: 6 miles, 60 min + Crossfit

First of all, to the peeps that visit this blog (which is up in the thousands, whoohoo!), thank you to the few who leave comments! I seriously can't tell you how much it means. Same goes to the folks on Twitter. It's easy to feel like I'm just clacking away, sending witty words out into the interweb that no one ever hears.

I'm the crazy girl singing in the shower because I think no one can hear me. And when you leave a comment, it's like being barged in on. Except I like it. :)

I don't photograph everything I eat, just the good stuff. Over the last few days, I've snagged these yummies.

Obsessed with these protein wafer cookies. Low sugar and stinkin' delicious. Like a Twix. But better for your body. Oh Yeah!

My favorite breakfast: egg white poof + Lactaid cottage cheese + fruit. And I snagged Larabars for a buck a piece, and tried the Ginger Snap flavor. So good! I don't eat them often because they're loaded with sugar, but man, they're so good.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Fage. :)

Sugar-free Low-fat Banana Bran Muffins
These just came out of the oven and they might be the BEST banana muffins I've ever made! I used oat and bran flour, applesauce, and toasted walnuts, and they're like a party in your mouth. Recipe is coming soon!

I mentioned in my last blog post that I signed up for my first marathon. I'm still wondering if I'm crazy, but alas, after five half marathons, I'm not just half crazy, I guess I've gone full crazy.

I was on the phone with my sister ... multi-tasking, that's how I do.

But this is my "Cowtown In Training" t-shirt.

C'mon, we all know we love our race t-shirts. If nothing else, I'm running this race so I can finally put a 26.2 sticker on my car.

Training for the Cowtown! Boom! February 26 is the big day. :)

Can you believe in the last two days all of these magazines have showed up? I think the mail man had to deliver them in two doses, because there is no way that could have been crammed in one mail box!

Holy crap, looks like I have some reading to do.

On another HAPPY note, I aced my midterms this week!
And the hubs is taking me to go to see some preggo vampires tonight!

You know you're excited!

  3. I'm on the fence about Cowtown. I don't want to drive to Ft. Worth for the expo and the race, but every time I hear of someone else signing up, I'm tempted to do it too!*

  4. hi Courtney, congratulations on doing a great job on your midterms! i may have to tried those protein bars. This week i tried QUEST protein bars and they are pretty taste with lots of fiber. You look so cute with your little shorts, and best of luck in your training and be careful. I love banana bread so when you post the banana muffin recipe i will definitely make some. Enjoy your night and weekend!

  6. YES!! I haven't put the 26.2 sticker on my new car yet! But let me tell you....when you earn the right to put that sticker on your car it will be a proud moment! =)

True story, when we were PCSing from WA to NC I was in the middle of NOWHEREville and a dude (with a DOD sticker) was jockying with me for hundreds of miles. He too had a 26.2 sticker on his car. It was mildly entertaining. I felt like he was trying not to get chicked by me....but alas I passed him for the last time and he pulled off for gas-or so he probably wanted me think. Yeah I chicked him. HA!

  8. Good luck this year with Cowtown! Completing a full marathon is an amazing experience. I looked up the race info and I'm trying to get into ultras, so I will be heading to do Cowtown in the future for the 50K, hopefully convincing some family in Dallas to run a smaller race as well! Looking forward to your recap!
