Get It Girl

 Yesterday's run: 10 miles, treadmill, 1:33, 9:18 pace

So, yesterday I tried to GET IT. The Army Shadow 10-Miler was cancelled thanks to the weather getting all cray-cray. It was weird, I was dreaming about the race the night of, and it turned into a nightmare. Lightening was coming down all around us as we were running by the lake. When my alarm went off at 5:45AM, the rain was torrential and the thunder and lightening was a'boomin.

Since I'm pretty much a celebrity friends with one of the race coordinators that works for MWR, I sent him a text asking if the race was still on, I knew they were out there setting up. While I was waiting to hear back, I went about my usual morning routine.

Drink coffee. Put clothes on. Take photos. In that order, I hope ... 

The race did wind up being post-poned until next weekend. The lightening seemed a little too dangerous for a race around the water. 

So, what's a girl to do? I'm already caffienated-up and dressed ... So, I ran anyways. I knocked out 10 miles on the treadmill. Not quite as nice a race outside, but while watching Flight of the Phoenix on TV, a little over an hour and a half went by pretty easily. 

We headed out for a movie and early dinner afterwards, because I was dying to see Real Steel!

This movie was amazing. It was heart-felt and sweet, full of action, laughs and even some tears. (But remember, I get misty-eyed during dog food commercials.) I left the theatre feeling really good, you know, the fuzzy-wuzzy kind of good. And I really love Evangeline Lilly's character in this movie. If you haven't seen it, you need to! And if you did, did you like it? 

We stopped for dinner at Texas Land & Cattle. I had soup and salad (Steak Soup, holla!)
Count on yours truly to ruin such a healthy dinner by ordering this monster:

It was called the Triple Fatty McFat BigBooty Rocking Everywhere Cake  Chocolate Fudge Cake with raspberry syrup (we had it on the side). I am not a total oinker, promise, I did let the husband have a bite eat half. 

I picked up this coffee from Cracker Barrel and was super excited to try it this morning in the French Press! Um, sadly it was kind of missing any pumpkin or pecan flavor? Fail. 

The Chocolate Chip Pancake mix was an epic WIN though! 

It's a super easy just-add-water mix. So, I yeah, added a little water, then orange zest, cinnamon and almond extract. 

The husband's pancakes tasted like Chocolate Orange! Chocolate chips and orange zest. Match made in Heaven. He said they were some of the best pancakes he's ever had. :)

For my breakfast:

I saw this cool idea on Pinterest (story of my life) and took it a little further (story of my life.)

Fried Apple Pancakes! Slice your apple into thin slices (I didn't even worry about coring it, I just wiped away the seeds), and pop them in the microwave for 1 minute to soften up. Pat away some of the excess moisture with a paper towel, then dip them in your pancake batter and cook on each side for about 2 minutes.

Yum, yum, yum! I had mine with a side of egg whites topped with cottage cheese, strawberries, slivered almonds, and sugar-free syrup.

Best breakfast, ever! This might be my new favorite way to eat pancakes for a little less carbohydrate. ;)

Happy Columbus Day! I'm off to grocery shop.
