Raisin Bran Fruit & Nut Wads


1. Proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects: "the insidious effects of stress".

Hubs and I just saw Insidious tonight. Not going to lie, I was shaking in my boots! It reminded me of Poltergeist and The Others, good stuff! But damn, the theatre was packed. It was THE pre-teenie boppin' place to be. I think next time, we'll drive another 10 minutes down the road to the "adult" theatre, and the high schoolers can keep this one.

Today's workout was a much needed break from the endless hours of homework I managed to conquer this afternoon! 5 hours and my brain is officially deep-fried, Texas style.

I warmed up with an incline of 15 on the treadmill, and walked at 3.6 miles an hour for 10 minutes. Then, 10 minutes on the elliptical at 10 resistance (working those arms and back!) and 10 minutes on the bike, where the last 15 seconds of every minute I went 100% effort. Then, I took it into our Yoga room (a medium sized mirrored room with yoga mats & area to jump and sweat around in) and did a full body cardio circuit. The point is to go as hard as I can in the time allotted for each exercise. Then, on the second round, I would try to beat that number.

1 minute mountain climbers
1 minute squats
1 minute tuck jump
2 minutes plank
1 minute sit ups
2 minutes walking plank
2 minutes burpees
4 minutes walking lunges
break for 1 minute
repeat x2

The workout was fun and something new, and an easy way to burn about 500 calories and revive my brain!

While studying, you know I snuck in some time to read my favorites. :)

Some brain fuel was necessary. I decided to bake and stuff my face with the tastiest Raisin Bran Wads ever. And I mean ever. These are little wads of wisdom, wit and epicurious wonder. 

Raisin Bran Fruit and Nut Wads

1/2 cup firmly Stevia
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 Tbsp. water
2 egg whites, slightly beaten
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1-1/2 cups 
Raisin Bran Cereal
1/2 cup almond flour
1/2 cup of quick oats
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup chopped dried apricots, dried bananas, dried cranberries, chocolate chips (optional)

Mix sugar, oil, water, egg whites, cinnamon, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add cereal and flour; stir until well blended. Add walnuts and apricots; mix well. Get your hands dirty and roll them into balls, sit about 2 inches apart, onto cookie sheets sprayed with cooking spray. BAKE at 350°F for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks; cool completely. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature. Makes about 1 dozen cookies
