It was kickin' this morning at the Bridgemoor gym! A guy and I pulled up at the same time, I was worried he'd want the treadmill, apparently he was worried about the same thing, so as we were filling up our water bottles, we agreed to rotate equipment every 10 minutes, with maybe a little competition on the running portion. :) It made the time FLY by, even if he did kick my ass on the treadmill.
I started on the elliptical. It looked something like this:
10 minutes elliptical @ 10 resistance
10 minutes bike @ 8 2 resistance
10 minutes treadmill @ 2 incline and 6.5 miles an hour
He said that he'd gotten used to this circuit type of training while deployed Afghanistan, as they had very little gym equipment, and it really does make the time fly, plus, you can try to beat the guys time before you.
I have a love/hate relationship with the elliptical. One, because the people who use it usually give it a really bad name. They're gliding along at such a pace they might as well be smoking a cigarette. I crank up the resistance as high as I can, and use it as a chest/back workout. By pushing on the handles, you can work your chest, by pulling, you can work your back. I try to let my legs just float along. By the time I'm done, my shoulders are burning. My heart rate always shot the highest on this piece of equipment, and because it's non-impact, it doesn't wear me out as fast as pounding the pavement. But, I'm still wary of shouting to the world I use the elliptical on occasion. Might as well be the Tony Gazelle.
Yesterday's 10 miler on the treadmill was sweet, sweet, sweet. I watched a little Sponge Bob, listened to a little audiobook, and studied a few flash cards for today's finals.
Fuel after the 10 miler consisted of:
a Green Monster.
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 cup fresh spinach
1/2 c. almond breeze
1 tsp PB
3-5 ice cubes
blend, blend, blend. garnish. slurp.
and a bowl of bran, raisins and almond breeze.
After studying like the true procrastinator I am, I breaked to make these jaw droppers.
Blueberry Muffins (without the muffin top ;)
recipe coming soon!
I tend to be more of a snacker than a meal eater. I snack about 5-6 times a day, anywhere from 100-300 calories. I don't like big sit down meals, unless it's right after a workout, so, usually breakfast. Most of the dinner photos I post are the food I make for my husband. I tend to make a bowl of veggies for myself to munch and work a glass of wine or two while I'm making his meal. :)
Rawr, the red claw loves chicken!
chicken mushroom swiss burger on whole wheat bun
with a Ranger IPA :) This was dinner night before last, during the Man U vs . Chelsea game.
Red Devil's lost. :(

Off to take some finals!
