Monday Funday

There is nothing like a little rush of endorphins to get you going on the Monday of finals week. As of right now, I have great grades. Let's cross our fingers it stays that way!

I'm sipping a chocolate blueberry protein shake as I type this, and daaamn, it's good!

+ 1 (heaping) scoop of chocolate protein (I use Whey)
+ 1/3 c. frozen blueberries
+ 1/2 c. Original Almond Breeze
+ dash if cinnamon

Before my plyometric workout this morning, I had a cup of coffee and a 1/4. c. of oatmeal with 1 tbsp raisins, cinnamon and water. I had to take James on post this morning and hang out with him at Sick Hall. I figured getting a little breakfast in me would make my workout easier. And it did, though I am just really out of shape or really tired or both. Because I can't seem for the LIFE of me to get my heart rate where it used to be ...

Last night I tried Jackie's new DVD. A few runner friend's have tried it, and complained that their ass and shoulders hurt for days after, so I had to see just who this Jackie girl thought she was, making fitness DVD's and running around with her headlights out.

There were no nipples on display during the DVD, promise.

I was really surprised to feel how weak I was! 

It's only a 30 minute workout, right? I'm a tough girl. HAH.

There are no breaks, and each exercise you do for 1 minute, before moving right on to the next. I have a set of 5 and 10 lb. dumb bells. I wish I had 8's, they would have been about right. But damn, 8 lbs? I feel like such a pansy! I can deadlift almost 200 lbs. yet can't do a compound forward lunge with a shoulder raise for 60 seconds with 10 lbs in each hand? My muscles were on fire! You know stubborn little me. I decided do it twice, back to back, to see if I could do it with a little more ferocity the second time. I did finish the exercises with much better form once I really slowed down, but ouch, my muscles were burning!

Yeah, I'm a little sore. Though I've been much worse! Will I be doing this Jackie DVD again? Definitely. It's very shoulder heavy, and every girl knows - the best way to a v-taper is to work on those sexy shoulders! Me? V-taper? Yeah right. Keeping me from the brink of obesity? More like. ;)
