Friday Fill-In

Finally, I remembered! I have wanted to do this for the last few Friday's and have totally spaced, until Saturday morning rolls around, I'm blogging about pancakes, and all the sudden I think, "Shit. Fill-In Saturday just doesn't have the same ring to it."

If you're a mili-spouse, join in at the Wife of a Sailor!

1.What characteristic about yourself has either been strengthened or weakened due to your experience as a Military Spouse?
The ability to let go. I learned this practice in yoga. It's been so, so, so helpful. Letting goes means: it's okay to not know the answer, it's okay to not understand what he's talking about, it's okay to understand he'll be late - AGAIN, it's okay to realize he'll blow you off, etc. It's the military, not him. I can't change it, so why hold on to it? I am an amazing, beautiful human being and I won't let feelings of inadequacy come over me in moments that are out of my control and perhaps even out of his. I just smile and go about my day as best I can.

2.What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Hawaii. I spent my 21st birthday there with a really amazing friend, it's been the most memorable two-week experience of my little life. :) Swimming with sea turtles, climbing volcanic mountains, long walks on the beach.

3.If you could have any fast-food restaurant in the food court on base/post what would you pick?
In-N-Out!

4.Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We didn't technically have one. We didn't have a wedding, really, just a quick couple of moments in front of the judge, Bill Cooke and his sweet, I'm-sooooo-from-the-South Alligator-skin boots! I think he knew we were getting married though, and spent an amazing week in San Antonio along the Riverwalk, and stayed at an incredible resort, La Mansion, prior to our arrival in Killeen and our "ceremony" at the courthouse. Then it was off to DEERS .... It's been history since!

5.If you could have any job in the world regardless of money, degree or experience, which job would you have and why? I would love to be a pilot.  Or, I'd love to have my own cooking show on HGTV. I'd love to work in Journalism and Public Affairs, shooting my own photos and writing my own pieces, especially over in Afghanistan and Iraq. I too, think it'd be awesome to open a Crossfit box with my husband. I want to teach yoga, too. If I am to join the Reserves or Guard, I hope to go in as a Medic and specialize in Physical Therapy, too. I'd also love to help soldiers and families, which is why I'm majoring in Social Work and Mastering in Marriage and Family Counseling. I'd like to have my own practice, or work for the DOD directly.
